In 1996 Dan and Pat Hill started Global Discount Vacations and very quickly became one of the major retailers of Caribbean resort travel in the US. As they grew they were able to extend their services to travel worldwide. In 2000 they had the first opportunity to assist in sending a team on a medical mission trip to Africa. Since then they have done more and more of this type of travel service. Today, while they still sell some vacation travel, most of Global Discount Vacations travel services are offered to those doing humanitarian, medical, clinical, or religious trips to third world countries.
Dan and Pat not only organized these trips providing excellent prices on air travel and accommodations but also thoroughly acquaint those traveling abroad to some of the challenges of serving in third world countries. They are willing to hold training seminars to prepare the travelers prior to arriving to their place of service. Often they will lead the teams and together have traveled throughout Africa and Mexico.. Also Pat has lead a number of teams to Russian and some of the former Soviet states as well as Asia and Central America. They have also lead two teams to Cuba having received permission to travel to Cuba from the US Treasury Department.
There are many challenges traveling to some of the places people wish to go to serve others. Some countries require visas to be gained far in advance of travel. Other countries require proof of job and income while other require specific inoculations prior to travel. Dan and Pat can guide you through the maze of requirements and prepare you for what is often called a culture shock in traveling to some of the places that need your help the most.
